John Parks Bio

John Parks trained in New York City at the High School for the Performing Arts, The Juilliard School, Clark Center, New Dance Group, Martha Graham School, and The American Dance Festival. 

He is a former dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; The Anna Sokolow Company; Ruth Carrier, Jose Limon, Donald McKayle, Louis Johnson, Eleo Parmare, and Rod Rodgers dance companies just to mention a few.

John Parks was formerly Assistant to the choreographer and dance captain for “The Wiz” on Broadway and produced and directed “You and The Ladies” on Broadway. He has appeared in a number of other films: "The Wiz", “Rage in Harlem”, and Spike Lee’s “Malcolm X” and “Rosewood”.

Since Mr. Parks' relocation to Florida in 1989, his summers have been devoted to choreographing, directing, producing and teaching at international festivals, workshops and professional and educational institutions. He is currently Dance Instructor at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.

Alice Burke

ALICE BURKE
Dance Animator (FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre)

Alice Burke was born in 1971, in London, England. Daughter of Robert Wyatt (Singer, Songwriter) and niece of Julian Glover (Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter), she was surrounded by an eclectic bunch of musicians, hippies, film actors and authors!

      Alice is known as a true dance luminary in Niagara. Passionately advocating for a rich Arts presence in the region. 

As FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre's 'Dance Animator' Alice is involved in outreach for the dance programming in St.Catharines involving Dance Companies such as I.aM.mE Dance Crew (with SYTYCD Ja Ja), ProArteDanza, Ballet Jorgen, Bboyizm and Les Ballet Jazz de Montreal to name a few. Alice facilitates Master Classes and Workshops with these guest Artists including Ryan Lee ( National Ballet of Canada) Gregory Dean (Principal-Royal Danish Ballet Company) Crazy Smooth (Bboyizm). Alice also provides a bridge for emerging artists to connect to their further training and career, providing personalmentorship and resources from her network of peers in the Arts.    Alice has enjoyed a diverse and successful professional career. Accolades include Lead dancer / Dance Captain and Lead Singer for Carnival Cruise Lines, Bodywork Dance Co.and Gypsy Theatre Co.Lead Dancer, Lead Adage and Rehearsal Director for Bodywork Dance Company (U.K) touringGermany, The Netherlands, Thailand, Ireland and England and several years in Aspects of Dance performing alongside East Enders cast members and with Louis Spence (Noted Dance Stars of British TV acclaim.) Alice also had a blast as T.A for Pineapple Dance Studio, London UK.. Television credits include Front Row and Timmy Mallet (ITV England) as a Lead Dancer and Backing Singer for Nigel Planer and The Dooleys.

  Theatre Credits include: Cassie - West End Tour of Chorus Line. Janet - Rocky Horror. Mungo Jerry – Cats. Donna Marie – Blood Brothers. Guest Artist - Niagara Dance Co. Choreography Credits here in Canada include: Narnia, Blood Brothers, Musical of Musicals the Musical.  Contemporary/Modern and Ballet works for Professional and pre professonial Dance Companies. 

Her extensive career bagan with Leo Kersley, Principal of Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet (first husband of The National Ballet of Canada's founder; Celia Franca). Kersley took Alice under his wing. This ensured a unique insight into the professional and traditional world of Classical Ballet. After training in mainly Cecchetti and Bournonville technique, Alice also trained with The Royal Ballet School as a Junior Associate. Alice went on to graduate on a full scholarship from the 'London Studio of Performing Arts' studying extensively in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Voice. There, Alice trained under such icons as Dame Alicia Markova and Dame Beryl Grey and went on to guest with several dance companies including 'London City Ballet’ and 'The Scottish Ballet'. However fell in love with all aspects of her talent and graduated, a true 'Triple Threat'.

  Alice has also been a respected adjudicator for several Dance Competitions in England and now Ontario inspiring new talent with her highly educated critique paired with her kind and passionate encouragement. 

Alice has also implemented programs for The United Way, RAFT and Gillian’s Place and GoGirls.

Past students are now flourishing in successful careers in Canadian National Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, other Ballet and Contemporary Companies, Music videos, TV, Moulin Rouge, Film's and London’s West End.

Stephen Findlay

Most recently completed a successful run as Lank in Crazy For You and the Priest in Mama Mia, both for the Port Hope Festival Theatre.

He began his career with the Alberta Ballet then later with Ballet North where he spent four seasons as a soloist.. 

Selected theatre credits include; Mr. Braithwaite in Billy Elliott for the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. Mary Poppins, for the Citadel, Theatre Calgary, and Port Hope Festival Theatre. Jeff Moss in Bells Are Ringing, for The Confidential Musical Theatre Project, Mirvish Production’s The Sound of Music where he also acted as Resident Dance Captain. Oliver for Drayton Entertainment, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, three seasons with the Charlottetown Festival where he played in Anne of Green Gables, Guys and Dolls and Puttin on the Ritz, Peter Pan and Robin hood the Pantomimes at the Elgin Theatre, Forty Second Street and Crazy For You at Huron County Playhouse, SwingStep an original Canadian Musical and numerous others.

Movie and Television credits include; Queer As Folk, The Gemini Awards, Stormy Weather, SuperStar, Once Upon A Mattress, HairSpray, Mulroney The Opera, as well as numerous television commercials. He has had the good fortune to work with great artists such as Donny Osmond, Shania Twain, Ernie Coombs, (Mr. Dressup), Rex Harrington, Traci Ullman, Louise Pitre, Carol Burnett, Mathew Morrisson, Denis O’Hare, Tony nominated choreographer Arlene Phillips and Tony Award winning choreographer Kathleen Marshall.

Past choreography credits include Shout the Mod Musical, Port Hope Festival Theatre,  Once Upon A Mattress, West Side Story, and Gypsy, all for Sheridan College, and the Mary Kay Awards. For C.A.T.S. Mainstage, director/choreographer for Fiddler on the Roof, and numerous revues for the Harold Green Jewish Theatre.

Also a sought after teacher and adjudicator, he has adjudicated competitions across the country for over twenty years and he has taught and guest taught for various centres through out Canada including Dance Fuzion, The Edmonton School of Ballet, The Alberta Ballet School, The Young Canadians, The Charlottetown Festival Young Company, Harbour Dance, George Brown College, Sheridan College, Metro Movement and Dubo Force, (Monterrey Mexico and Mexico City). 

He is a Level E graduate from The Second City, and was also a member of the casting team for Mirvish Production’s The Wizard of Oz. 

Maggie Forgeron

Maggie Forgeron

Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, Maggie graduated from the National Ballet School in 2001 with a personal achievement award. Her professional career began with the National Ballet of Canada.  She also participated in three summer programs at the Banff Centre for the Performing Arts.  Maggie danced with the Veronica Tennant and Anna Pavlova Dance Projects, helped to create a new work with DNA Theatre and taught at the York School of Dance (Toronto), The Harbour Dance Centre (Vancouver) and RNB Dance (Vancouver). Personal highlights onstage include performing works by James Kudelka, John Alleyne, Twyla Tharp, William Forsythe, Johan Inger, Crystal Pite, Medhi Walerski, Aszure Barton, Kevin O’Day, Jorma Elo, Donald Sales and Jacopo Godani. It was an honour for her to contribute, through dance, to the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. Most notable was a solo project with Margie Gillis called “Moon on White Crow” that premiered at Dances for a Small Stage. Maggie has been chosen to participate and is actively taking part in a project for which the purpose is the preservation of Margie’s legacy. Maggie completed her seventh Season with Ballet BC in 2013 as Giselle in Jose Navas’s world premier of the classic tale. A certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor, she is a graduate of a body-based expressive arts approach at the Tamalpa Institute and explores choreography as parallel career paths to performing. Maggie is delighted to be a guest at Niagara Ballet.

Rebecca Zizek

Rebecca Zizek, BHSc, DMA, PAA

Rebecca has over 20 years experience as an accomplished dancer, teacher, choreographer and adjudicator from Mississauga, Ontario. Growing up in the dance world, she trained extensively in all dance styles with some of the industry’s top teachers and choreographers. In addition, she also holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from Western University. Most recently, Rebecca has presented work in New York as a featured choreographer at the APAP Showcases presented by Peridance Capezio Center 2017, as well as the Young Choreographer’s Festival in 2015. She has choreographed and performed for many other professional and commercial shows throughout North America including; Fever After Dark, Raise the Rhythm, Fresh Blood - The Chimera Project, New Blue Festival for Emerging Artists, Toronto Raptors Junior Dance Pak, Block Party featuring Calvin Harris, Ray- Dance Gala, Sketch (the Canadian National Exhibition), Toronto Dance Teacher Expo Showcase, Breaking Formality (Echo Dance Company/York University). Rebecca also spent two years dancing as a company member with contemporary dance company POV Dance Project. In addition to her professional work, Rebecca has extensive teaching and choreographic experience with students of all ages. She loves working as a guest teacher and choreographer and is constantly working at studios, intensives and workshops across Canada, with her work receiving much acclaim. You can find her on faculty with Dance Attack Workshop and Convention. She was a five-time recipient of the Award for Young Choreography and was the recipient of the 2015 George Lon Choreography Award (DMA), in addition to many other accolades that her artistic and innovative work has received. Many of her students have gone on to pursue professional dance careers and she has students training at Joffrey Ballet School (New York City), Toronto Dance Theatre and performance dance programs at Ryerson University, York University and George Brown College. Rebecca loves to share her versatile knowledge and experience with the next generation of dancers as an adjudicator at various competitions across Canada. Rebecca’s enthusiasm and passion as an artist is undeniable and it is her honor to be able to share this with the dance community.

Stephanie Waite

Stephanie Waite

Stephanie began her dance career at the young age of 5 at EDC Dancers. She has studied ballet, modern, tap, and jazz, as well in 2007 received training with the Zacada Circus School.  Performances have included “Point of View” at Dofasco Centre for the Arts, “Hamilton Nutcracker” and a Christmas Special with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. At the age of 10 she travelled to New York City with Be Discovered and danced at studios such as “Steps on Broadway”, “Broadway Bound”, and many more.

Stephanie began training at Neglia Ballet School in Buffalo New York at the age of 10. She has performed various solos, duets and ensemble work under Neglia with performances such as, “Baba Yaga”, “Giselle”, and was given the opportunity to perform the lead role in “The Nutcracker”.

Stephanie has won many overall awards and scholarships at competitions across Canada and The United States, her most recent being crowned Miss Senior at the Sheer Talent Nationals in Las Vegas.  Stephanie has also been apart of the Ballet Intensive in Las Vegas twice and worked along side renowned ballet masters. In 2012, she was asked to be apart of Team Canada in Poland, she received a gold medal for her Pointe Solo and won top female junior dancer for the competition.

In 2013, she was accepted into Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive program on a scholarship and also into their full-time program.  Stephanie has also been accepted into “The Royal Winnipeg”, “The National Ballet of Canada”, “Quinte Ballet School”, and “ABT” (American Ballet Theatre).  In the summer of 2014 Stephanie had the great pleasure of training at the Juilliard School of Dance Summer Intensive. Stephanie has is also trained in RAD ballet (Royal Academy of Dance) and holds her Intermediate Certificate.

Stephanie will be joining Neglia Ballet Company as a Junior Company member in the fall of 2017. Stephanie is a dedicated and passionate student, teacher and choreographer of dance and continuously pursues her education in ballet and scholastic achievements.

Chelsea Wainwright

Founder/Director - Niagara Ballet

Chelsea Wainwright is currently enrolled at Bolshoi Ballet Academy Teacher Training Program in New York City. Bolshoi Ballet is one of the worlds oldest and most established schools for classical ballet training.

Chelsea has been the Ballet Director at EDC Dancers inc since 2012, since becoming Ballet Director she has directed three performances of The Nutcracker.

Chelsea studied as a full time student at Canada's National Ballet School. Chelsea has danced alongside some of the worlds most esteemed Ballet companies including The Kiev Ballet, The National Ballet de Cuba, Ballet Ouest of Montreal and Neglia Ballet Artists. Chelsea is trained in RAD Ballet (Royal Academy of Dancing) holding her Intermediate Certificate, she is also trained in Cecchetti and Russian Vaganova Ballet styles.

Chelsea spent three years performing as a Dancer/Illusionist Assistant in the show "Imagine" and "Beyond Belief" at the Greg Frewin Theatre in Niagara Falls and Television appearances in New York City.

Chelsea has trained with and been the protege of Stelio Calagias former owner of Metro Movement in Toronto, Ont. working intensely under his wing.

Chelsea's students have been accepted into several professional ballet schools such as; Canada's National Ballet School,Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Joffrey Ballet School, School of Alberta Ballet, Quinte Ballet School and The Juilliard school.

Chelsea is known for her serious outlook on the technical elements when training young dancers and prides herself on allowing her students to reach their fullest and greatest potential.

Also a sought after teacher and adjudicator, he has adjudicated competitions across the country for over twenty years and he has taught and guest taught for various centres through out Canada including Dance Fuzion, The Edmonton School of Ballet, The Alberta Ballet School, The Young Canadians, The Charlottetown Festival Young Company, Harbour Dance, George Brown College, Sheridan College, Metro Movement and Dubo Force, (Monterrey Mexico and Mexico City). 

He is a Level E graduate from The Second City, and was also a member of the casting team for Mirvish Production’s The Wizard of Oz.

Alice Burke was born in 1971, in London, England. Daughter of Robert Wyatt (Singer, Songwriter) and niece of Julian Glover (Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter), she was surrounded by an eclectic bunch of musicians, hippies, film actors and authors!

      Alice is known as a true dance luminary in Niagara. Passionately advocating for a rich Arts presence in the region. 

As FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre's 'Dance Animator' Alice is involved in outreach for the dance programming in St.Catharines involving Dance Companies such as I.aM.mE Dance Crew (with SYTYCD Ja Ja), ProArteDanza, Ballet Jorgen, Bboyizm and Les Ballet Jazz de Montreal to name a few. Alice facilitates Master Classes and Workshops with these guest Artists including Ryan Lee ( National Ballet of Canada) Gregory Dean (Principal-Royal Danish Ballet Company) Crazy Smooth (Bboyizm). Alice also provides a bridge for emerging artists to connect to their further training and career, providing personalmentorship and resources from her network of peers in the Arts.    Alice has enjoyed a diverse and successful professional career. Accolades include Lead dancer / Dance Captain and Lead Singer for Carnival Cruise Lines, Bodywork Dance Co.and Gypsy Theatre Co.Lead Dancer, Lead Adage and Rehearsal Director for Bodywork Dance Company (U.K) touringGermany, The Netherlands, Thailand, Ireland and England and several years in Aspects of Dance performing alongside East Enders cast members and with Louis Spence (Noted Dance Stars of British TV acclaim.) Alice also had a blast as T.A for Pineapple Dance Studio, London UK.. Television credits include Front Row and Timmy Mallet (ITV England) as a Lead Dancer and Backing Singer for Nigel Planer and The Dooleys.

  Theatre Credits include: Cassie - West End Tour of Chorus Line. Janet - Rocky Horror. Mungo Jerry – Cats. Donna Marie – Blood Brothers. Guest Artist - Niagara Dance Co. Choreography Credits here in Canada include: Narnia, Blood Brothers, Musical of Musicals the Musical.  Contemporary/Modern and Ballet works for Professional and pre professonial Dance Companies. 

Her extensive career bagan with Leo Kersley, Principal of Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet (first husband of The National Ballet of Canada's founder; Celia Franca). Kersley took Alice under his wing. This ensured a unique insight into the professional and traditional world of Classical Ballet. After training in mainly Cecchetti and Bournonville technique, Alice also trained with The Royal Ballet School as a Junior Associate. Alice went on to graduate on a full scholarship from the 'London Studio of Performing Arts' studying extensively in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Voice. There, Alice trained under such icons as Dame Alicia Markova and Dame Beryl Grey and went on to guest with several dance companies including 'London City Ballet’ and 'The Scottish Ballet'. However fell in love with all aspects of her talent and graduated, a true 'Triple Threat'.

  Alice has also been a respected adjudicator for several Dance Competitions in England and now Ontario inspiring new talent with her highly educated critique paired with her kind and passionate encouragement. 

Alice has also implemented programs for The United Way, RAFT and Gillian’s Place and GoGirls.

Past students are now flourishing in successful careers in Canadian National Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, other Ballet and Contemporary Companies, Music videos, TV, Moulin Rouge, Film's and London’s West End.

rebecca zizek

Rebecca Zizek, BHSc, DMA, PAA

Rebecca has over 20 years experience as an accomplished dancer, teacher, choreographer and adjudicator from Mississauga, Ontario. Growing up in the dance world, she trained extensively in all dance styles with some of the industry’s top teachers and choreographers. In addition, she also holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from Western University. Most recently, Rebecca has presented work in New York as a featured choreographer at the APAP Showcases presented by Peridance Capezio Center 2017, as well as the Young Choreographer’s Festival in 2015. She has choreographed and performed for many other professional and commercial shows throughout North America including; Fever After Dark, Raise the Rhythm, Fresh Blood - The Chimera Project, New Blue Festival for Emerging Artists, Toronto Raptors Junior Dance Pak, Block Party featuring Calvin Harris, Ray- Dance Gala, Sketch (the Canadian National Exhibition), Toronto Dance Teacher Expo Showcase, Breaking Formality (Echo Dance Company/York University). Rebecca also spent two years dancing as a company member with contemporary dance company POV Dance Project. In addition to her professional work, Rebecca has extensive teaching and choreographic experience with students of all ages. She loves working as a guest teacher and choreographer and is constantly working at studios, intensives and workshops across Canada, with her work receiving much acclaim. You can find her on faculty with Dance Attack Workshop and Convention. She was a five-time recipient of the Award for Young Choreography and was the recipient of the 2015 George Lon Choreography Award (DMA), in addition to many other accolades that her artistic and innovative work has received. Many of her students have gone on to pursue professional dance careers and she has students training at Joffrey Ballet School (New York City), Toronto Dance Theatre and performance dance programs at Ryerson University, York University and George Brown College. Rebecca loves to share her versatile knowledge and experience with the next generation of dancers as an adjudicator at various competitions across Canada. Rebecca’s enthusiasm and passion as an artist is undeniable and it is her honor to be able to share this with the dance community.


Stephanie Waite

Stephanie Waite

Stephanie began her dance career at the young age of 5 at EDC Dancers. She has studied ballet, modern, tap, and jazz, as well in 2007 received training with the Zacada Circus School.  Performances have included “Point of View” at Dofasco Centre for the Arts, “Hamilton Nutcracker” and a Christmas Special with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. At the age of 10 she travelled to New York City with Be Discovered and danced at studios such as “Steps on Broadway”, “Broadway Bound”, and many more.

Stephanie began training at Neglia Ballet School in Buffalo New York at the age of 10. She has performed various solos, duets and ensemble work under Neglia with performances such as, “Baba Yaga”, “Giselle”, and was given the opportunity to perform the lead role in “The Nutcracker”.

Stephanie has won many overall awards and scholarships at competitions across Canada and The United States, her most recent being crowned Miss Senior at the Sheer Talent Nationals in Las Vegas.  Stephanie has also been apart of the Ballet Intensive in Las Vegas twice and worked along side renowned ballet masters. In 2012, she was asked to be apart of Team Canada in Poland, she received a gold medal for her Pointe Solo and won top female junior dancer for the competition.

In 2013, she was accepted into Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive program on a scholarship and also into their full-time program.  Stephanie has also been accepted into “The Royal Winnipeg”, “The National Ballet of Canada”, “Quinte Ballet School”, and “ABT” (American Ballet Theatre).  In the summer of 2014 Stephanie had the great pleasure of training at the Juilliard School of Dance Summer Intensive. Stephanie has is also trained in RAD ballet (Royal Academy of Dance) and holds her Intermediate Certificate.

Stephanie will be joining Neglia Ballet Company as a Junior Company member in the fall of 2017. Stephanie is a dedicated and passionate student, teacher and choreographer of dance and continuously pursues her education in ballet and scholastic achievements.

CHELSEA WAINWRIGHT

Chelsea Wainwright

Founder/Director - Niagara Ballet

Chelsea Wainwright is currently enrolled at Bolshoi Ballet Academy Teacher Training Program in New York City. Bolshoi Ballet is one of the worlds oldest and most established schools for classical ballet training.

Chelsea has been the Ballet Director at EDC Dancers inc since 2012, since becoming Ballet Director she has directed three performances of The Nutcracker.

Chelsea studied as a full time student at Canada's National Ballet School. Chelsea has danced alongside some of the worlds most esteemed Ballet companies including The Kiev Ballet, The National Ballet de Cuba, Ballet Ouest of Montreal and Neglia Ballet Artists. Chelsea is trained in RAD Ballet (Royal Academy of Dancing) holding her Intermediate Certificate, she is also trained in Cecchetti and Russian Vaganova Ballet styles.

Chelsea spent three years performing as a Dancer/Illusionist Assistant in the show "Imagine" and "Beyond Belief" at the Greg Frewin Theatre in Niagara Falls and Television appearances in New York City.

Chelsea has trained with and been the protege of Stelio Calagias former owner of Metro Movement in Toronto, Ont. working intensely under his wing.

Chelsea's students have been accepted into several professional ballet schools such as; Canada's National Ballet School,Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Joffrey Ballet School, School of Alberta Ballet, Quinte Ballet School and The Juilliard school.

Chelsea is known for her serious outlook on the technical elements when training young dancers and prides herself on allowing her students to reach their fullest and greatest potential.
